How you answer that question will depend on whether or not you have a personal relationship with God. If you do not, you are merely existing, you are spiritually dead and alienated from God, and your answer will most likely include things like money, power, fame, etc. Why? Because that is what life is all about and you are completely unaware of the fact that there is much more to life than what the world keeps telling you. Life has no real meaning or purpose, it is nothing more than waking up every day in a race to get more stuff that at the end of that day has added nothing to your existence and has left you disillusioned and disappointed because you find yourself as empty as before you had it. My point, nothing your soul is thirsting for has or will have the capacity to fill that void in your heart.
But if you do have a personal relationship with God, then you have gone from merely existing to actually living because you have literally been born-again, you have become a new creation in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). You have experienced saving grace, mercy, the love of God, forgiveness, real peace, you have experienced the life of God in your own, and you have literally (spiritually speaking), seen God. When Christ comes into your life, you are changed forever, your life is transformed and your passion in life changes. You find meaning and purpose, fulfillment and satisfaction, joy and freedom.
What should your soul thirst for? "O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water" (Psalm 63:1 NLT).
